Another great run secures Pete Smith 3rd place in the Bucks,Berks&Oxford cross country championships at Datchet.

Also a big well done to Margaret Moody for representing the ladies with an excellent effort.

Congratulations to Pete Smith for finishing 2nd at the very tough 33K run at Herve, Belgium in a time 2hrs 3mins. This is an amazing achievement as the race attracts an international class field.
Also John Dooey puts an excellent run in to finish 14th in a time of 2hrs 12mins.

A brilliant effort by Pete Smith allowed him to finish 8th in the Windsor Half Marathon with a time of 1hr14 mins. 3992 people were behind him!

Also Rod Palmer and Mike Hickman completed the 55 mile (Yes Fifty Five mile!!!) London to Brigthon run. Rod finished in a time of 8hrs19mins and Mike in a time of 8hrs35mins. Quite an amazing achievement for those of us that find in hard enough to do the cycle ride each year!

Also well done to Trevor Hunter, Stephen Lynch and David Nash for completing the Marlow Triathlon which consisted of a 4000 Metre Row a 25000 Metre Cycle and a 7500 Metre Run.
Trevor finished 17th in a time of 1hr37mins, Dave 127th in a time of 2hrs12mins and Stephen 130th in a time of 2hrs15mins.

A big well done to all our runners that took part in the 89 Mile Ridgeway relay challenge.
The ladies team had an excellent run and won the ladies event – The team was Martin Dean, Pat Carter, Ellen Haynes, Gale Charles, Karen Williams, Barabara Webb, Debbie Ridout, Joanne Willock, Alan Gates and Helen Cooper.
Provisional results show the mens team finished 10th (6 places better than last year). The team members were Pete Edington, Margaret Moody, Harvey Lyons, Alison Gower, Dave Redhouse, John Dooey, Jock Maclean, Dave Leighton, Trevor Hunter and Nick Martin.
The mens team prize was won by Headington followed by Swindon and Reading Road Runners.

Handy Cross Runners win the men’s team prize in the tough ‘Bourton 15’ mile race. Pete Smith had another superb run finishing in 5th place (1hr 28 mins), also execllent runs by John Dooey 9th place (1hr 33 mins) and Trevor Hunter 12th place (1hr 35 mins).

Trevor Hunter finishes 6th in the Great South Trail. The course was a 10K race, the first 5K being a normal cross country course, followed by jumping over the same 30 jumps that the horses do during the Windsor horse trials.

Bad luck to Rod Palmer for being forced out of completing the 145 Mile Grand Union Canal run, after picking up an injury after 70 Miles. His course record still remains though!

A big well done to all our runners that completed the Elizabeth Cullum memorial Marathon, a twenty six mile race through the Chilterns starting and finsihing at Princes Risborough Fire station. Rod Plamer was the first in the over 55 category in a time of 4hrs 26mins and Trevor Hart was the first man in the over 60 group with a time of 5hrs 25 mins. The two man team of Trevor Free and Nick Martin won the over 45 team prize in 5 hrs 5 mins. (An amazing feat as their time included a 35 minute detour!) First home for the club was Ian Gibbon and Peter Edington in a time of 4hrs 38 mins.

At the intercounty championships a superb run by John Dooey got him under 2 hrs at the hilly Spen20 race (In Yorkshire). Peter Smith was just behind with a time of 2hrs 1 min and Trevor Hunter also completed the course in 2hrs 19 mins.

Pete Smith wins the final round of the Chiltern League division2 match at Banbury and was very unlucky to miss out on being first Male Senior by just one position.
Margaret Moody however wins here age category by a large margin after another excellent run.

A full squad turned out for the Today’s Runner, Bracknell Cross Country – For the men’s team Trevor Hunter finished (4th), Phil Stevens (10th), Benjie Benjamin (51st), Nick Martin (90th), Peter Edington , Mike Hickman (123rd), Harvey Lyons, Martin Dean, Dave Doughty and Bob Carter also congratulations to David Higham for finishing a very respectable (83rd) place in his first ever race and Alan Gates on completing his first Cross Country since school. For our ladies Nicy Lyons was first home followed by Mel Parsons and Helen Murdoch.

Handy Cross Joggers win the Highworth Half Marathon team Trophy beating Cirencester AC who have been holders for the past four years!
Trevor Hunter finished 2nd with a new PB time of (1hr 17 mins 26 secs) also excellent runs by Peter Edington(11th – 1hr 27 mins 56 secs), Stephan Naunko(17th – 1hr 31 mins 33 secs), Mike Hickman(24th – 1hr 34 mins 27 secs), Margaret Moody(26th(3rd Lady) – 1hr 35 mins 15 secs ) and Martin Dean (31st – 1hr 36 mins 53 secs). We hope that Debbie recovers soon from her injury, which forced her to pull out.

Pete Smith is still in with a great chance to win the Chiltern League division2 title after a 5th place at the Berkhampsted cross country. Our other male representatives were John Dooey(17th), Phil Stevens(46th), Alfred Benjamin(62nd),David Doughty(95th), Mike Hickman(118th), Trevor Hart(133rd).
